Acanthus by Patrick Blanchard

Absolutely love the organic feel and understated elegance of Patrick Blanchard's Acanthus. In true spirit of art nouveau, these table lamps are inspired from the study of nature and flora. These lamps are made from sycamore and lime but can you imagine them in clay....?

Style with practicality - Reinier de Jong

Super practical, super modern and super cool the best describe Reinier de Jong's designs. Here are my two favourites; Keer and Rek.

Keer is a chair that can be either bar stool, either chair or a lounger / recliner and keer is an expandable bookase, how cool is that?

Ceramic voyages - Jo Davies

Jo Davies

Jo Davies' work is a mix of rococo elegance and opulence with pop kitsch. Her pieces fully explore clay as a medium, emphasising its mailability and allowing for bringing together of contrasts – wriggling and still, wet and dry, sharp edges and blunt forms. Extremely beautiful, I am loving every single one of them.

I am mesmerized by these cans. The contrast between modern commercial object and traditional Chinese porcelain painting is just fantastic.

The shorts stories...

An artist Nina Katchadourian has created superb stories with book titles. What a fantastic idea! The project is called The Sorted Books and now holds over 130 book clusters...

So what story does your bookshelf tell?

Glass lapmshades

Heather Gillespie is a glass artist. These cut glass lampshades are just fantastic. Wonder how would they look in porcelain?

My ceramics pieces

Inspired by the The Green Lotus Leaf Collection from Chintz & Company, here is my spin on the idea. Retro doilies.
I am very happy with initial effect. They look great after bisque firing. I am not sure about the colour scheme yet. I am thinking about greens or whites, or maybe a mixture of these two. I do not know. I have spent whole today session on glazing and colouring and used all of those doilies as the test pieces with different oxides, glazes and slips, hopefully I will be able to see some results next week!

Also need to think about the way of fixing them to the wall. I tried some Velcro thingy... but I do not trust the stuff... I fixed my daughter's memo board with it and it fell. I do not want to risk that!

Patchwork artwork

These are wonderful pieces from Squint, the East London based shop started by Lisa Whatmough a former Sculptor and Painter, who initially wanted to to showcase the antique textiles she had been collecting.

Sofas will set you back £4000, mirors £1200, lampshade 'just' £150, but aren't just fabulous?!
